We Have No Reason To Mistrust The World

‘We have no reason to mistrust the world for it is not against us. Has it terrors? They are our terrors. Has it abysses? Those abysses belong to us. Are dangers at hand? We must try to love them.

How shall we forget those ancient myths about dragons that at the least moment turn into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest sense, something helpless that wants our love.’

Bohemian-Austrian Poet and Novelist
Regarded as one of the most lyrically intense German-language poets
His writing described as inherently mystical
